Instead of forming teams with set rosters and coaching staffs, we will be conducting "Sandlot Baseball Nights." The objective is to give everyone a chance to have fun playing competitive baseball in an organized environment - a throwback to the decades when games could be more spontaneous. Games are at Bowen and there’s plenty of room for the family picnics!

 

Teams are constructed on-site each game night, from available players. We will provide umpires, coaches and other game-related logistics. 

 

The season is expected to run from July 2nd to July 30th (8 regular game evenings with rainout make up on Aug. 1st), on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:45-7:45) at Bowen field. All participants must be registered for the Sandlot Baseball program in order to play on any given night.

 

To be eligible to play, children must have played in either Minor Division (AA or AAA) or Majors in the Spring 2024 season. 12-year old players who have graduated from Spring Little League Majors are eligible for this program. Players may register from either Newton SouthEast Little League or Newton Little League (see note below) areas. Sandlotters who have played AAA or Majors who are interested will have an opportunity to learn and practice umping games in the Sandlot.

 

The program cost is $75. Refunds may be requested before July 1, 2024 minus a $20 administrative fee. No refunds will be made after that date. Registration is limited to 40 participants and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
